About

Dream chasing and stargazing…

I got my start writing novels, but I’ve always dreamed about writing for Hollywood. In 2016, I decided I was done waiting for the stars to fall in my lap.

I found a screenwriting contest, entered and won, and they flew me out to Hollywood. I made a guest appearance on Pilar Alessadra’s awesome On the Page podcast (listen to that episode here), met with several managers, and dipped my toes in the Pacific Ocean. Two weeks after I came back to Dallas, signed with a manager, and I’ve never looked back.

I’m building a working writing career in L.A., but I’m a Dallas girl at heart and Austin’s in my backyard. I’ve got a fierce indie streak, which led me to form my own company, Areion Media, in 2018. I love being the CEO of my own company, and embracing the business side of being a creative gives me a much richer perspective on my body of work.

I’m blessed to be wife to an amazing husband who supports all my crazy, and I’m the mom to 6 incredible kids (4 DSs and 2 DDs) who form a sizable cheering section in my life. I believe that life is lived best when you’re surrounded by love and laughter!

I’ve got a Ph.D in medieval literature and I absolutely love the classroom. I’ve taught everything from Latin to history to advanced mathematics to 6th grade lab science. I’m currently an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Humanities at my undergrad alma mater, which lets me reread all my favorite books and get my favorite coffee at the university’s Cappuccino Bar.

I keep my sanity through distance running and meditative movement, and I’ve been known to join my boys for a Spartan Obstacle Race. I’m multi-passionate and endlessly curious, and research is one of my very favorite parts about being a writer.

If you want to get in touch, I’d love to hear from you! Head here and choose your favorite method!

Peace,

Shannon
